Like so many of the best ideas, it could easily have been pushed aside to make way for those projects that required much less time and energy. There were two reasons that it came to fruition, and their names are Lindsay and Dana. Aviv Fried, owner of Sidewalk Citizen Bakery, comes to us all the way from Physics and Biomedical Engineering?to sourdough. Aviv is motivated not just to make a great loaf of bread, but to actively participate in his community. Named for a concept illustrated in Jane Jacob's The Death and Life of Great American Cities, his bakery embodies that goal.
