The Food Craft Institute, focused on promoting and teaching food craft. Eat Real and The Food Craft Institute’s mission is to help revitalize regional food systems, build public awareness of and respect for the craft of making good food and to encourage the growth of American food entrepreneurs.
The Food Craft Institute (FCI) is a new educational institution that works to create and improve the viability of small and medium-scale value-added food businesses in rural and urban America. For current food professionals, students and entrepreneurs who want to create or work in a business producing and selling hand-crafted, artisanal foods that are made using traditional skills. The Food Craft Institute (FCI) teaches traditional food production methods and techniques as well as giving real world business advice so graduates can launch their own artisanal food businesses. Unlike traditional culinary institutes, FCI is focused on reinvigorating the art of food craft, restoring dignity to the profession and helping new businesses succeed.
We're currently seeking two interns!
Eat Real Festival Vendor Intern. This is a full-time (40 hours a week) internship that is compensated with school credit and a monthly stipend.
Eat Real intern will:
1. Work closely with Vendor Coordinator and the ERF Management Team.
2. Answer phones, questions, and manage all correspondence with ERF vendors.
3. Assist in vendor recruitment and outreach as needed, via phone, email and in person.
4. Organize and manage all vendors permits, licenses, contracts, fees and special requests.
5. Assist in procurement and management of requested sustainable ingredients for vendors.
6. Assist in Eat Real Festival outreach to, and with vendors.
7. Coordinate all vendor logistical information.
8. Assist in on-site logistics, vendor check-out and vendor load-in/load-out onSept 21- 23, 2012 in Oakland and Oct 13 - 14, 2012 in LA.
The Food Craft Institute Intern. This is a full-time (40 hours a week) internship that is compensated with school credit and a monthly stipend.
FCI intern will:
1. Work closely with the FCI Provost and Program Coordinator.
2. Answer phones, questions, and manage correspondence with prospective andcurrent FCI students.
3. Organize and manage FCI instructor contracts and insurance licenses.
4. Assist in managing Facebook and Twitter accounts and making daily posts and updates.
5. Assist in setup and cleanup on class days.
6. Coordinate logistical information for upcoming classes.
7. Track food craft news and assist in putting out a weekly FCI news-list.
8. Record and track results from class surveys.
