Internship description
Tinder Hearth is a small wood-fired bakery that makes naturally leavened bread and pizza. Located on a farm in coastal Maine, the bakery takes apprentices each year who wish to learn the full process of crafting excellent European-style bread.

We are looking for someone to join our little crew for the 2013 summer and fall, starting as soon as possible. Experience is not necessary, but you must be passionate about bread, willing to work hard, and attentive to details. We are dedicated to quality and run the bakery in a friendly, family-style manner.

Apprentices are expected to work an eight-hour shift each weekday. Through the season you will get a chance to learn each step of of making and baking the bread.

The local community loves Tinder Hearth, so even though most of our bread is sold wholesale, PR is always a part of our work. We also sell our bread at Farmers' Markets and from the bakery.

Our little bakery turns into a take-out pizza joint twice a week, and apprentices are welcome to get their hands in the pizza if they wish, but are not required to.

We provide rustic housing, really good food, and a small stipend. Living close with one another is part of our operation, so you must be excited about sharing meals and the common living space in the farmhouse with 4-8 other people.

Brooksville is an outrageously beautiful area and is quite rural. Having your own car is highly recommended, but not vital. Your weekends will be free, and there are always interesting projects going on around the farm. Once a month we host a large community open mic in our barn, and music is always a big part of our household.
