Job Announcement: CIW Ally Staff Member
Just Harvest USA & Interfaith Action
Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW) ally organizations, Just Harvest USA (JH) and Interfaith Action of Southwest Florida (IA), are looking for a shared staff member to work as part of a team together with the CIW and the Student/Farmworker Alliance (SFA) in Immokalee, Florida. The JH-IA staff member will be responsible for working together with JH’s and IA’s existing staff members to plan and carry out our work.
Areas of Work
Education and Organizing for the Campaign for Fair Food

Cultivate relationships and alliances with food movement leaders and grassroots food movement organizations, nationally and locally;

Cultivate relationships and alliances with faith institutions and grassroots people of faith, nationally and locally;

Raise consciousness and produce participation though actions, statements, outreach, endorsements, and shareholder pressure on target companies;

Translate from Spanish to English and co-present with CIW farmworkers for educational presentations;

Develop and disseminate materials and newsletters; maintain listservs, website, and social media presence.
Mobilizations, Tours, and National Organizing

Educate and organize with food justice, faith and other communities in strategic regions nationally s to plan mobilizations and tours;

Develop and carry out press strategy; produce internal media;

Plan logistical elements and coordination of events.
Organizational Development
-
Joint fundraising and grant-writing for CIW ally organizations (SFA/IA/JH);

Administrative work and record keeping;

Organizational development with JH Board, IA Board, and Alliance for Fair Food.
Support for CIW and Farmworker Community

Assistance with with translation, rides, wage-theft cases, low-power FM radio station, technology and more
Ideal Candidate Possesses
Deep commitment to social and economic justice
Prior organizing experience
Bilingual in Spanish-English
Experience living or working in low-income, immigrant, international, or multi-cultural communities
Experience with food justice and faith communities
Skill working with a broad range of peoples and constituencies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Computer proficiency (web, design, and bookkeeping skills a plus)
Willingness to work long and unusual hours, including late nights, weekends and holidays
Ability to take initiative and responsibility for projects
Ability to work well in teamsMinimum commitment of two years

Compensation
Just Harvest and Interfaith Action staff are paid a modest, livable salary with health benefits.
