Pie Lab serves sweet and savory pies from 8am-2pm every day. We have gotten a lot of regional and national attention from The Birmingham News, The New York Times Magazine, Southern Living, and Country Living.
We are looking to expand our national sales of baked merchandise and introduce new flavors and recipes. To do this, we are implementing an innovative baking internship. We are looking for bakery interns to work for three to six month periods throughout the year. Compensation $8.00/hr; Full time.
Under the supervision and direction of the manager, the interns will be responsible for the following:
- Preparing, baking, and/or finishing pies and other baked goods as necessary
- Monitoring inventory and ordering/receiving products and ingredients
- Maintaining production equipment in good working condition
- Warewashing and related general housekeeping necessary to ensure the bakery's full continuing compliance with the food code and current rules and regulations of the Alabama health inspector
In order to apply for a baking internship with Pie Lab, we kindly ask that you meet the following requirements:
- At least twenty-one (21) years old
- At least one (1) verifiable academic year in accredited baking/culinary curriculum
- Willingness and ability to work flexible days/hours, and to begin working as early as 4:00 A.M. if necessary
- To work in a challenging and dynamic environment with a positive attitude towards multiple projects.
