Lenoir Community College, a member of the North Carolina Community College System, is a comprehensive two-year public institution. The College offers associate degrees, diplomas, or certificates through educational programs in college transfer, business, industry, public services, health sciences, and continuing education for the intellectual, economic, social, and cultural development of students and the community. Programs and support services are accessible through traditional and distance learning options.

Lenoir Community College is a small public college offering a number of disciplines along with the agriculture program and located in Kinston, North Carolina. This school is presently offering certificates and associate's degrees in Applied Horticulture. 

Position Description:

Duties:
  • The primary instructional responsibility and function of this position is to teach college-level courses to students in the Sustainable Agriculture program, recommend curriculum changes, prepare and revise course syllabi, and recommend textbooks. 
  • The candidate will be responsible for student recruiting, job placement assistance, registration, and class scheduling. 
  • The candidate will be involved in planning activities that bring community expertise into the program and that provide expertise for the community. 
  • The successful candidate must maintain scheduled classroom hours, post and maintain office hours, and keep accurate records. 
  • Candidate must ensure that facilities and equipment are well maintained, clean and organized, and that materials and other resources such as instructional aides are available for classes. 
  • In keeping with the College’s philosophy, each member of the staff/faculty are expected to carry out a specific job assignment within the area of education and specialization and, at the same time, contribute generally to the attainment of institutional goals through cooperative team effort within the College and the community at large. 
  • Evening and weekend classes may be assigned on and/or off campus.
Qualifications:
  • A bachelor of science degree in agriculture education, agricultural business, animal science, or related field from a regionally accredited institution and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline.
  • Previous teaching experience at the high school, community college, or university; experience using instructional technologies; and teaching traditional and online courses with at least three years of industry recognized work experience are preferred. 
  • Candidates must have the ability to communicate with and relate to students, faculty, and staff; possess good oral and written communication skills; be self-motivated and creative. 
Salary Range:

Salary based on college’s salary plan and commensurate with education and relevant work experience.
