Job Description

About the Company: New Mexico Appleseed is part of a network of 16 Centers in the US and Mexico that focus on systemic solutions to problems impacting the poor and under-served. We work on issues ranging from education to hunger to financial policy.

Under the umbrella of our hunger work, we aim to:

  • Create self-sustaining local and statewide partnerships to end hunger.
  • Change state and school district policies to ensure more children access afterschool meals, summer food, and school breakfast and lunch.
  • Expand the backpack program throughout the state.

About the Position: We seek a development professional with 3-5 years of direct fundraising experience to lead our advancement efforts. This position will report directly to our Executive Director. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Create infrastructure for donor engagement and management
  • Represent New Mexico Appleseed statewide at community and other events.
  • Develop winning fundraising proposals (including strategy development and proposal design, writing, assembly and submission)
  • Coordinate Parade of Playhouses event and other special events
  • Conduct effective donor prospect research and cultivation
  • Provide insightful and accurate fundraising trend analyses and reporting
  • Coordinate and provide exemplary support for donor reporting needs
  • Ensure effective utilization of statewide outreach opportunities
  • Other administrative duties such as donor data entry, thank you notes, etc.
  • Other duties as may be assigned
Requirements: 
  • Demonstrated successful fundraising experience.
  • Outstanding and inspiring written and oral communication skills
  • Exceptional commitment to excellence in stewardship and service
  • Marketing and media relations experience preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and success in grant-writing
  • Ability to construct and manage grant budgets
  • Adept at using word processing, spreadsheet and desk-top publishing software systems
  • Dynamic, diplomatic and respectful communicator
  • Outstanding overall accuracy, attention to detail, organizational skills and follow-through
  • Willing and able to to personally address details small and large
Special Considerations:
  • Salary depends on experience
  • Must have the ability to work some irregular hours
  • Personal transportation required
  • In-state travel
  • Must be able to lift 30+ pounds and move items
