Job Description About the Company: 

About the Position: We are looking for a motivated individual with a willingness to work hard and a sincere interest in development of personal community-building skills. The energy and motivation of the staff team is essential to DUG’s success.

The Construction Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination of construction and maintenance projects at various garden sites, in addition to a variety of field and office tasks. This is a primarily field-based, physically demanding position, Monday through Friday with occasional weekend projects. Work is based in the outdoors, 12 months a year, leading volunteers in the various aspects of community garden construction.  

Responssibilities
  • Coordinate construction workdays, including planning, preparation and setup, and clear communication with volunteers
  • Workday leadership, supervision and training of volunteers
  • Coordinate self-directed construction and maintenance projects on garden sites
  • Assist with fieldwork, such as repairing irrigation breaks and fencing projects
  • Assist with general office work
Requirements:
  • Experience with volunteers, landscaping and construction projects desired
  • Interest in community gardens
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently
  • Ability to do physically demanding work in an outdoor setting
  • Comfortable in diverse settings and diverse communities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Clean driving record, valid driver's license, and comfortable driving company pickup truck
  • Ability to lift and/or move construction equipment/materials weighing up to 75 pounds
