Job Description Heyday Farm is a family-run 25-acre sustainable and historic farm on Bainbridge Island. In addition to championing and growing local food, our focus is on building community and educating. Position Description  

We are currently looking for a Kitchen Assistant. While everyone is encouraged to engage in many aspects of our diversified farm, this position is mainly responsible for assisting in our commercial farm kitchen. This position reports to our chef. The position includes meal prep and service for guests at the farm as well as a supporting role in cooking classes given at the farm. This includes educating guests about the food that is produced on the farm. Another important aspect of the position is a leading role in production of value-added products featuring meats (including charcuterie), eggs and produce produced on the farm. There is the possibility of helping out in our creamery making cheese if and when time allows. This position includes two days off a week. We are seeking someone who has the ability and willingness to work evenings and traditional weekends. This position has good growth and leadership opportunities.  

Responsibilities
·   Clear record keeping in accordance to chef specifications
·   Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and order in the kitchen and storeroom
·   Advising chef about any issues with food products or equipment in a timely way
·   Helping to develop and improve systems to make the operation run more effectively
·   Assisting in preparing and implementing menus/recipes of all kinds
·   Maintaining very high standards, consistency and continuous quality improvement
·   Complying with kitchen standard operating procedures
·   Maintaining an immaculate kitchen and support in dishwashing shared by all staff members
·   Maintaining excellent projection management and time management skills  

Compensation  

The position will be 40 hours per week. Pay will be dependent on experience.  

Experience  

Professional experience in a kitchen is desired and/or culinary background. Charcuterie experience a plus.  

Physical Demands  

This position is physically demanding and requires strength and the ability to climb, crouch, lift and carry a minimum of 30 lbs.
