Company description The Chatham Real Food Market Co-op is a community owned outlet for the products of our local farms and kitchens.  The Co-op seeks to provide education about Columbia County agriculture and to promote a more localized food system. Our objective is to strengthen our rural community, develop our food security, and help build a healthy local economy in our county.

The store is open seven days a week and is located in the rural town of Chatham in New York’s Hudson Valley, a culturally rich and historically agricultural area which is currently experiencing a new wave of small diversified farms and food initiatives. Chatham is two hours from New York City and Boston, 40 minutes from Albany, and just west of the Berkshires. Job description The Chatham Real Food Market Co-op seeks an experienced Manager for our store, a beautiful 2,000 square foot full-service food market and cafe, with a strong focus on local and organic products. Our Co-op community includes about 750 members, and a staff of approximately 15 mostly part-time people. Our annual sales are around $600,000.

The store is located in the rural town of Chatham (Columbia County) in New York’s Hudson Valley, a culturally rich and historically agricultural area which is currently experiencing a new wave of small diversified farms and food initiatives. Chatham is two hours from New York City and Boston, 40 minutes from Albany, and just west of the Berkshires in Massachusetts. 

We are looking for an individual with a minimum of two years of management experience in retail food and food service, preferably in natural foods in the co-op sector. The right candidate will have excellent communication and leadership skills; experience in all aspects of staff management; demonstrated ability in product mix, marketing, and merchandising; a working understanding of accounting; and computer literacy. A passion for promoting healthy food and local farms would be an asset!
