POSITION: Mobile Food Truck Intern
The Mobile Food Truck Intern (part time) is responsible for implementing specific activities aimed at strengthening and expanding the City of Boston’s Food Truck Program, including:
- Responding to email and phone inquiries from constituents, food truck operators and partners to:
- Answer questions about permitting process
- Facilitate quarterly and monthly scheduling process
- Manage three types of permitting (public, private and special vending)
- Solve problems as necessary
- Conducting annual spot checks (initial and follow-up) on truck participating in the public program
- Conducting new vendor information sessions for new vendors
- Researching new public vending locations, with the goal of establishing 5 before July 1, 2015
- Conducting outreach for special vending opportunities
- Liaising with associations wishing to incorporate food trucks at events
- Drafting agendas, conducting monthly Food Truck Committee meetings and executing follow-up
- Maintaining current food truck schedule (internal and web-based)
Required:
- Strong Organizational Skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work well with people
- Completion of at least one semester of food system course work
- Experience working in the food industry
- Interest in, and understanding of the difficulties of owning and operating a food business
- Interest in food trucks and the City of Boston’s culinary offerings
- Basic social media skills
- Experience with organizational development and grant-writing are a plus
This is a PAID position - $15 per hour for roughly 15 hours per week. This position will last from April 1 (earlier is desirable) to July 1, 2015, with an option for extension, subject to funding. Compensation this position is : hourly How to apply
