The farm was established in 2013 in the town of New Lebanon, NY. It includes 11 acres with a pond and is surrounded by 500 acres of fields and forest. Our mission is to farm as stewards of the land, working with natural cycles to create a symphony of healthy soil, animals, community, and great food. We are not certified organic but farm in a similar fashion without the use of herbicides or pesticides in order to protect the health of our members, farmers, neighbors, waterways and wildlife. We have great respect for all that our animals provide for us and in return provide them with the most natural, healthy life possible where they are free to express their natural behaviors.
The areas in which apprentices will gain experience include: weeding, transplanting, bed preparation, harvesting, greenhouse seeding, greenhouse care, rotational grazing, daily care of chickens and goats, milking, selling at farmers markets and CSA distribution. The success of our business relies on accomplishing our work in an efficient manner, using excellent communication and working in rain, heat and cold.
Work Schedule: Tuesday-Friday 6:30-5:30 with a 1 hour 15 minute lunch break. Saturday 6:30-3:00. One Sunday a month, the apprentice will be responsible for greenhouse and animal chores.
Compensation: $650 monthly stipend, vegetables, eggs and other farm products. We are unable to provide housing.
