EatingWell’s Digital Food Editor plans and oversees food and cooking content for EatingWell.com social media, newsletters, organic referral and partners. This position will:
- Lead development of digital food strategy to drive growth and serve the consumer, working with digital director and senior digital editor.
- Pitch and create daily food and cooking content for brand blog, news channel,
- Develop, optimize, re-package, assign and edit digital first food content for site and video
- Create new recipes and/or assign and test recipes from freelance recipe developers.
- Photograph or coordinate photography of digital recipes.
- Participate in digital video creation and promotion including but not limited to brainstorming topics, writing scripts, doing background research, appearing on-screen and on-site integration.
- Write e-newsletters
- Contribute to social media promotion, including development of social media promotional plans, content and graphics
- Leverage available metrics and research to ensure that editorial plans align with consumer needs and trends.
- Monitor competitor activities taking appropriate actions to maintain a leadership position.
- Participate in other digital food projects as needs develop.
- Represent digital food needs at editorial, production, tech, and newsletter meetings.
- Work with digital director and senior digital editor on sponsored programs.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree with journalism emphasis preferred. Culinary degree or professional cooking experience preferred.
- Experience & Skills: 5 years as a food editor or writer, with at least 3 years of digitally focused publishing experience. Recipe editing, testing and development experience required.
- Experience with digital news creation, keyword research, search-engine optimization and blogging preferred.
- On-screen video experience a plus.
- Knowledge of, and demonstrated passion for, nutrition content and digital news.
- Experience using content management systems.
- Understanding of online engagement.
- Solid experience analyzing web metrics.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
