Job Description Local food internship with a fast growing Hudson Valley-based company. Bringing the harvest of over 40 family owned farms from the Hudson Valley to the New York City area. Familiarity with vegetables, fruits, and meats a plus. Passion for local food a must. We deliver fresh and frozen fruits, vegetables and proteins to restaurants, institutions, and retailers year round.

Responsibilities:

• Occasionally pick up and deliver local produce and meats from Hudson Valley farms.
• Occasionally take customer orders as well as place orders with farmers
• Assist the distribution team with inventory, organization and picking and packing customer orders
• Assist with office duties, customer service, social media and marketing

Qualifications:

• Interest in local food and supporting local farmers with at least a basic knowledge of agriculture and or food
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
• Valid driver’s license

• Experience how weather and seasonality affect availability and variety across farming methods and the region
• Learn about food safety for frozen and fresh produce, meats and shelf-stable items
