Job Description Ardith Mae Farm & Monkshood Nursery are situated in the picturesque part of Columbia County, within a 5 minute walk of the River Hudson, and a 30 minute drive to the nearest town of Hudson, NY. Here on this beautiful and scenic 80 acre farm we are fortunate enough to have blended two separate businesses and farms on one property. We not only share a farm but we share the symbiotic relationship between an organic vegetable grower and a dairy farm.

Monkshood produces a full array of organic vegetables, medicinal/culinary herbs and potted transplants. Here we grow 6 acres of produce, 12 acres of cover crops and 3/4 of an acre of greenhouse space within 10 greenhouses. We produce almost year round with greens being harvested 48+ of the 52 weeks.

Ardith Mae Farm is an Animal Welfare Approved dairy where we rotationally graze the herd on organic pastures and treat our animals with respect and care for them holistically. Our dairy produces over 8 different varieties of french style goat cheese, year round.

We are looking for a responsible, hard-working, and committed individual to provide livestock support 3-4 days a week for approximately 6-8 hours per day. The shift will begin in the morning, (there is some flexibility on am or pm chores) and will include milking and general chores, light building projects, maintaining and moving electonet fencing, fence line maintenance, helping to set up new high tensile fence, as well as animal husbandry- such as hoof trimming, helping with freshening, feeding babies ect. Other responsibilities will include record keeping and helping to organize the barn/parlor/records.

We are looking for a reliable individual with some livestock experience. Acceptable experience could include (but is not limited to) cow, sheep, or goat dairy farms. Ideally, you will have experience milking and with fencing, and with the demonstrated ability to operate independently with little oversight. Timeliness is paramount for livestock support to maintain the milking schedule, so it is imperative that you are punctual each and every scheduled day. We are looking for someone who lives relatively close to the farm, but you will be responsible for your own off-farm housing and transportation. When applying, please list any other relevant skills you think may be beneficial but not listed herein. Also, must be able to work in most weather conditions, have a strong back and be able to lift 50#.

This is a year round position.  The position is for Fri, Sat, Sun and possibly Thursday or Monday.
Benefits include cheese and vegetables from the farm, hourly compensation is based off of experience, but starts at $12/hr. Compensation this position is How to apply
