Position Description:

Develops, manages, and implements program priorities for WWF-US's collaborative supply chain relationships related to US agriculture. Leads development of supply chain initiatives designed to reduce negative environmental impacts and supports measurable improvements in row crop production, namely that of corn and soy, but including wheat, alfalfa, potatoes, rice, among others. Responsible for coordinating activities with major corporate partnerships and platforms related to US agricultural production and related supply chains.

Job Requirements:
  • Implements the strategy for US agricultural engagement and related down-stream supply chain work including WWF-US' work with the Field to Market Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture.
  • Acts as key point of contact with major corporate partners in terms of developing concepts, MOU's and ongoing relationships. Coordinates securing adequate and appropriate resources to meet partnership needs.
  • Creates business plans and tools (e.g. risk management) to provide strategic advice and works with private sector partners on implementing changes in supply chains, operations and agricultural production standards that support WWF's mission and priorities.
  • Sets mutually-agreed-upon goals and targets for US agricultural supply chain partnerships including coordinating with others in the WWF network and related organizations (e.g. Field to Market, Roundtable on Responsible Soy, Innovation Center for US Dairy, US Roundtable on Sustainable Beef, etc.), organizing and implementing strategic gatherings that facilitate greater inter-organizational coordination, and helping identify potential conflicts and solutions.
  • Represents WWF-US and makes presentations at national and international meetings, workshops, and other relevant fora related to US agricultural supply chains.
  • Maintains knowledge of US row crop chain issues and trends so as to serve as a resource to WWF partners and campaigns. Provide technical support to business partners and the WWF Network on supply chain issues. On an as needed basis, support WWF Priority Places on row crop specific issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • A Master's degree in natural resource management, agronomy, business or related areas is required.
  • 5 years experience working within the US agricultural sector a must. Technical expertise of production issues and approaches to solving environmental challenges is critical. Familiarity with supply chain dynamics, corporate social responsibility and industry best practices is required. Knowledge of and experience in NGOs is preferred.
  • International experience and knowledge of global trade issues highly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to be an effective public speaker and have the ability to engage a broad array of individuals at all levels as well as communicate complex issues both verbally and in written form.
  • Ability to translate concepts and ideas into practical and tangible tools.
  • Excellent strategic abilities, with the capacity to articulate programmatic needs and translate them into effective initiatives.
  • Proven ability to work with business leaders and decision makers.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • GIS knowledge and experience with agriculture & land management tools and models a plus.
  • International experience and language other than English a plus.
  • National and international travel is required.
