Job Description Spinning J is a new pie, ice cream, and soda shop opening this summer in Humboldt Park, Chicago. We will be baking all our pastries in-house, as well as producing our own soda syrups and natural flavors. We are looking for people with previous experience working in kitchens, coffee shops, and bars, and for people who love good food, demand quality, are intrigued by process, and want to make people happy. We are currently hiring for the following positions:

Bakers: Production of pies and other pastries from scratch. Must have experience scaling recipes and be comfortable with recipes that use weight, not volume, measures. Formal training preferred but not required. At least one year of experience in a commercial kitchen required. Ability to work quickly, cleanly, and efficiently. Specific experience with pie and pastry strongly preferred. Sanitation Certificate strongly preferred.

Baristas/soda jerks: Preparation of coffee and tea drinks using high quality products from local purveyors, preparation of our handmade sodas, preparation of ice cream drinks and other offerings from our ice cream bar, and production of soda syrups and flavors. At least one year experience working in a commercial coffeehouse and/or cocktail bar required. Sanitation Certificate strongly preferred.
