Job Description Title: Wholesale Department Manager Lancaster Farm Fresh Cooperative is a nonprofit organic farmers cooperative of 109 member farmers in Lancaster County Pennsylvania. We focus on creating healthy high quality foods from our highly maintained and enriched soils on our small scale family farms. LFFC serves all of Eastern Pennsylvania, New York City, and most of the tri-state area by connecting the farmer and customer, delivering the best local organic produce, value added products, and humanely raised and pastured animal products to retail establishments, co-ops, restaurants, and institutions.

Description of Work:

LFFC is seeking a Wholesale Manager with a strong passion for and experience in the local food movement. LFFC strives to get the best sustainable foods possible into restaurants, stores, institutions and other wholesale outlets. Work involves development of sales accounts throughout our region, while working with your team to meet the common goal of helping the family farmer.

Duties:
  • Oversee sub departments - sales associates, purchasers and order coordinators including scheduling, hiring and disciplining team members
  • Create and maintain daily wholesale product price lists
  • Assists with timely processing of daily orders to ensure that it works within the farmers harvest schedule
  • Plan product development and marketing based on seasonal availability and volume
  • Understanding the buying and coordinating needs all LFFC departments
  • Aids departments in forecasting, scheduling deliveries/pick-ups to ensure orders are filled correctly
  • Determine areas of potential expansion for the co-op
  • Communicated department goals to the Executive Director on a regular basis
Skills:
  • Strong leadership skills with effective communication between departments
  • Understanding terms such as: Sustainability, Certified Organic, Transitional, Chemical Free, I.P.M. etc.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service that exceeds LFFC’s expectations, including keeping track of each customer’s needs and the history of interactions with each customer
  • Manage relationships with vendors and/or farmers
  • Works closely with transportation department to ensure timely and most cost effective pickups/deliveries schedules
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals while performing a variety of daily tasks
  • Committed to LFFC mission of promoting the local/sustainable food movement. Understanding the value of farming and its role in our community
Requirements:
  • Must have at least 3 years in a similar role
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Written and verbal communication
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Enthusiasm for and commitment in working with farmers in the local organic food movement
Salary:
Negotiable based on experience
