We're looking for a smart, eager, hard-working candidate with a nutrition labeling and/or strong food science background. S/he must have label regulatory and compliance skills and the ability to adapt to mandates in an ever changing food world. This candidate will manage all aspects of compliance as it relates to our private label products. S/he will work in tandem with new and existing suppliers on all FDA requirements; manage necessary certifications and establish guardrails related to product ingredients. Responsibilities
- Create nutrition and ingredient labels and validate/verify information given by partner suppliers
- Communicate with partner suppliers on label, nutrition, and packaging issues
- Review artwork from a technical and regulatory perspective
- Creating website and marketing content on products and general nutrition information
- Managing certifications (e.g. kosher, organic, etc. and others as required)
- Resourceful and process oriented
- Ability to develop and drive SOPs (standard operating procedures where no process exists)
- Excellent attention to detail
- Clear verbal and written communication
- Self-starter with persistence to drive projects to completion, despite any obstacles
- Team player that fosters collaboration
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Minimum 3-5 years experience working with FDA food labeling regulations in packaged foods
- HAACP certified and food handler license a plus
- Has attended one or more professional nutrition labeling conferences, such as via AIB, or IFT or EAS or GMA
- Familiar and/or fluent in Nutrition Databases
- Interest in start-up companies is a MUST
