General Responsibilities:1) Board Governance: Works with board in order to fulfill the organization’s mission.
- Responsible for leading VINES in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors.
- Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.
- Responsible for the fiscal integrity of VINES, to include submission to the Board of a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements that accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization.
- Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.
- Responsible for fundraising and developing other resources necessary to support VINES’s mission.
- Responsible for implementation of VINES’s programs that carry out the organization’s mission.
- Responsible for strategic planning to ensure that VINES can successfully fulfill its Mission into the future.
- Responsible for working with the Board to enhance VINES’s image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic and private organizations.
- Responsible for effective administration of VINES operations.
- Work with the Board to hire and train competent, qualified staff.
- Responsible for staff supervision and retention.
- Planning and operation of annual budget.
- Establishing employment and administrative policies and procedures for all functions and for the day-to-day operation of the organization.
- Overseeing VINES’s outreach to the organization’s constituents, the media and the general public.
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with various organizations throughout the community and state and utilizing those relationships to strategically enhance VINES’s mission.
- Reporting to and working closely with the Board of Directors regarding policy decisions, fundraising and increasing the overall visibility of VINES in the community.
- Supervising a team of 3-5 full and part time staff and 15-20 summer youth employees who report to a program manager.
- Strategic planning and implementation.
- Participating and preparing for organization Board meetings and committee meetings as required by the Board.
- Overseeing fundraising and marketing and other communications efforts.
- Overseeing financial operations, including data entry into Quickbooks financial management software.
- Other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.
- A Bachelor’s degree.
- Transparent, high integrity leadership, with a demonstrated ability to supervise and collaborate with staff.
- Solid, hands-on budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting. Ability to use QuickBooks preferred.
- Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation. Working knowledge of agriculture and food systems. Growing experience preferred.
- Familiarity with the nature and needs of the community VINES serves.
- Ability to convey a vision of VINES’ strategic future to staff, board, volunteers and donors.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with and engage diverse volunteer and donor groups.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
