Featherstone Farm is a 135-acre certified organic farm located in the bluff country in and around Rushford, Minnesota. The farm produces fresh market vegetables and fruits for distribution to natural food stores, wholesalers, and a 1000+ member Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. Featherstone is seeking an experienced individual to join our Horticulture Team to help grow quality organic produce. We are seeking a positive, engaged, self-motivated team player with a passion for completing high-quality work. 

Horticultural technicians are based at our farm in Rushford, MN. This is a year-round position with field work from April – November and opportunities available December – March with reduced hours in the warehouse, greenhouse, and possible assistance with crop planning and data entry. During the growing season Hort. Techs are expected to work 40 to 48 hours a week in all weather conditions; hours and days may vary. We are looking for someone who can work here for many seasons, Background check may be required.

Responsibilities: The Horticultural Technician will assist crop managers in the maintenance of crops to ensure high-quality harvests.  Some tasks will include: collecting data regarding pest and weed pressure; measuring planting areas; collecting samples for tissue testing and soil testing; irrigation installation and application; and cultivation. Other required general farm tasks include greenhouse work, hand weeding, harvesting, wash and pack, equipment operation, and record keeping.

Qualifications: Qualified applicants will have a minimum of 2 full seasons experience working directly with field production of organic vegetables or can demonstrate how their skills in another industry will translate to success in ours. Excellent communication skills and Spanish proficiency are highly sought. Demonstrated ability to operate farm equipment (tillage, seeding, cultivating and harvesting equipment, among others) is strongly desired. Computer skills specifically oriented around excel are needed as well. Applicants will need to be able to lift 50 lbs repeatedly, and to squat, bend over, and reach for extended periods.
