Job Description District O.N.E. (Organizing New Economy) is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit Food Innovation District working to create a complete, local food system; and to inspire better health and economic development, by promoting local food and physical activity opportunities to Huerfano County, Colorado.

Location:
District O.N.E. is based out of Walsenburg, Colorado, and works to serve all of Huerfano County. 

Assistant Farm Manager Responsibilities: 
We are seeking an assistant farm manager who has a passion for making small, sustainable farming a major part of their world. District O.N.E. currently supports the food production/distribution and educational programing of 3 community farms. These farms supply local, affordable produce to community members at the Walsenburg Farmers Market, ONE Table: Farm to Table Restaurant, and various local events. The Assistant Farm Manager will quickly adapt to all aspects of our farm operation, and the District O.N.E mission to creating and sustaining a Local Food Economy in Huerfano County, Colorado.

Length of Apprenticeship:
March 15, 2016 - September 15, 2016

Qualifications:
An ideal candidate will have sufficient experience working in farm management and food production; and will express a keen interest in cultivating sustainable and affordable access to locally-grown food. 

Housing:
Housing will be provided in the apartment above ONE Table: Farm to Table Restaurant. It is not required to live there, but is a plus if you don’t mind sharing space with another intern. We welcome couples and/or close friends who don’t mind sharing a room. 



Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate pets at this time.

Compensation & Food: 
Shared housing and a small living-stipend will be provided to the Assistant Farm Manager as compensation for full-time work. Managers will be able to grow their own produce in the gardens that they will tend to throughout the season.
