{"id":157,"date":"2010-05-31T20:37:17","date_gmt":"2010-05-31T20:37:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.goodfoodjobs.com\/blog\/?p=157"},"modified":"2010-05-31T20:41:29","modified_gmt":"2010-05-31T20:41:29","slug":"dave-liatti-owner-61-local","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.goodfoodjobs.com\/blog\/dave-liatti-owner-61-local\/","title":{"rendered":"Dave Liatti \/ Owner \/ 61 Local"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.goodfoodjobs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/Dave-Liatti.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-242\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\" title=\"Dave Liatti\" src=\"http:\/\/www.goodfoodjobs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/Dave-Liatti.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"320\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Few people come to food by way of engineering, but then again, few people are like Dave Liatti.\u00a0 You won&#8217;t see him at the hottest New York restaurants, cruising the farmers markets, nor at any of the other typical places that attract New York&#8217;s &#8220;foodie&#8221; culture.\u00a0 But don&#8217;t be fooled; that doesn&#8217;t mean that Dave isn&#8217;t into food, and it doesn&#8217;t mean that his lack of experience &#8220;in food&#8221; hinders his ability to work in the industry.\u00a0 A man of simple tastes (and few words, as you&#8217;ll soon find out), Dave prefers things\/businesses\/people that are rooted and real &#8211; good food, good environment, and good people.\u00a0 Sick of the hype and hubris surrounding most food establishments, Dave is opening 61 Local this summer, a place where people can meet, share, and appreciate locally crafted food and drink.\u00a0 He&#8217;ll never claim that he knows the most about food, but he&#8217;s happy to leverage his own unique expertise to make a good food contribution.<\/em> <em> After all, if an engineer can appreciate the pleasures of good food, we all can, right?<br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\n<strong><em>What attracted you to a good food job?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It all started with a perplexing question &#8211; What\u2019s better than a good pint of beer?\u00a0 Answer &#8211; A good locally produced pint of beer.\u00a0 Which sparked a follow up question \u2013 What\u2019s better than a good locally produced pint of beer?&#8230;hmm\u2026aha.\u00a0 Answer: The satisfaction of contributing to its creation.\u00a0 Yes!\u00a0 That\u2019s it.\u00a0 The Holy Grail\u2026<\/p>\n<p>So\u2026follow up to the follow up question &#8211; Do I know how to make good beer?\u00a0 Answer &#8211; No\u2026. No?\u00a0 Damn it! But wait.\u00a0 I do know a couple things\u2026Think\u2026well I did get an ME (Masters in Engineering) degree many pints ago.\u00a0 That could be useful.\u00a0 I\u2019ve also worked on numerous mechanical systems &#8211; bicycles, motorcycles, cars etc.\u00a0 Could these principles be applied to the production of sublime locally crafted ale?\u00a0 &#8211; Only one way to find out.<\/p>\n<p>BANG BANG BANG!
