This week&#8217;s interviewee is giving you the opportunity to make some of your own TV: submit a 90-second video about how you or someone you know is changing the way their communities eat for the better, and you could win\u00a0Food Forward&#8217;s #FoodRebel <a href=\"http:\/\/w.heyo.com\/6d2615\" target=\"_blank\">video contest<\/a>.\u00a0The winner receives a $3,000 cash grant, and the opportunity to be featured on an episode of Food Forward&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/food\/shows\/food-forward\/\" target=\"_blank\">second season<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>When did you know that you wanted to work in food?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been a TV Producer for many years.\u00a0 I was working on a series for Planet Green called &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecorazzi.com\/2008\/02\/03\/planet-green-recruits-tom-bergeron-to-host-supper-club\/\">Supper Club with Tom Bergeron<\/a>&#8221; that featured sustainable chefs, celebrities and eco-experts.\u00a0 I always loved food and shopping at farmers markets, but when I was sent on assignment to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/slowfoodnation.org\/\">Slow Food Nation<\/a> in San Francisco in 2010, I was blown away, and decided to devote myself full time to promoting sustainable food and farming.\u00a0 Since then I&#8217;ve produced the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/goodfoodfestivals.com\/la\/\">Good Food Festival and Conference in Los Angeles<\/a>, and many other food events, in addition to the PBS series,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/food\/shows\/food-forward\/\">Food Forward TV<\/a>.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve also worked promoting the film\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gmofilm.com\/\">GMO OMG<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>How did you get your current good food job?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When I was producing the Good Food Festival &amp; Conference, I met director Greg Roden, who asked if I would work with him on the 13 episode series of Food Forward TV.\u00a0 It&#8217;s been a labor of love for the last 3 years.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>How did your previous work or life experience prepare you for a good food job?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>My previous experience producing TV shows &#8211; everything from Entertainment Tonight, Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous and Supper Club &#8211; exposed me to the best chefs and food around the world.\u00a0 When I was at ABC I profiled farmers and chefs, and for A&amp;E I interviewed some of the best chefs in America. I&#8217;ve made many contacts in the sustainable agriculture field.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve also volunteered to promote events for the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/goodfoodla.org\/\">Los Angeles Food Policy Council<\/a> and the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.smgov.net\/portals\/farmersmarket\/\">Santa Monica Farmers Market<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.netiya.org\/\">Netiya<\/a> and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fairfoodnetwork.org\/our-story\/leadership\/oran-b-hesterman\">Fair Food Network<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>What was the greatest obstacle you had to overcome in pursuing your Good Food Job dream?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Thankfully I&#8217;ve not had any major obstacles so far.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>What can you identify as the greatest\u00a0opportunities\u00a0in food right now?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I would say the greatest opportunities in food right now are for young farmers.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>If you could be compensated for your work with something other than money, what would it be?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Learning to cook with the best chefs in the world.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Whether you love TV or not, you have to respect the amount of skills and resources that go into making it.
