It&#8217;s a\u00a0basic human need to be heard, validated, acknowledged. But\u00a0sometimes what really begs to be heard is the passion and drive living\u00a0in your heart, waiting quietly for recognition.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>When did you know that you wanted to work in food?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>My whole life I&#8217;ve been an entrepreneur and have been in sales and finance. I always wanted to do something more creative and to me, food is the most creative world you can be in since there are so many avenues for self-expression. I&#8217;ve been trying to get into food for the past 5 years and began working on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thinkjerky.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Think Jerky<\/a> two years ago, which we launched in December of 2015.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>How did you get your current good food job?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>From our employee, Natalie.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>How did your previous work or life experience prepare you for a good food job?\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>I learned how to work hard and grind from my previous jobs, which has given me the drive and motivation to succeed in our current venture.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>What was the greatest obstacle you had to overcome in pursuing your Good Food Job dream?\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>My greatest obstacle was that I had no clue what I was doing. I never was in the food world before and had no idea how to make beef jerky. So for me, it was just starting, learning as much as I could, and asking as many questions as possible. I never thought of quitting but there were definitely some hard times. My experience in business with my other companies has given me a solid foundation on how to handle the ups and downs of starting a new company.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Name one positive thing that a former employer taught you that you continue to appreciate?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Work ethic. My first job was in a boiler room making phone sales. I hated the job but it taught me how to work hard, fast, and efficiently.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>What can you identify as the greatest opportunities in food right now?\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Health, portion control, and creating an experience.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>If you could be compensated for your work with something other than money, what would it be?\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Acknowledgement of my\u00a0creativity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There&#8217;s one particular word in Ricky&#8217;s story that stands out to us: acknowledgement.
