Company description Tree and Leaf Farm is a four season, 6-acre, bio-intensive vegetable farm located in Wheatland, Virginia. Our intensive cultivation (both hand and mechanical) also includes herbs and flowers. We practice sustainable farming using ridge-till and living mulch systems. We focus on pro-biotic soil dynamics through the use of effective microorganisms, composting, legume cover crops, crop rotation and companion planting. No pesticides, herbicides, fungicides are used. Tree and Leaf Farm attends farmers' markets year-round in Washington D.C. at Dupont Circle as well as wholesaling to restaurants (Woodberry Kitchen, Artifact, Parts and Labor, etc.) and Potomac Vegetable Farms CSA. We're about an hour from D.C. and Baltimore. Our farm is situated on 120-acres of agricultural land and is bordered by a diverse farming community. Our neighbors include Potomac Vegetable Farms, Moutoux Orchards, Greenstone Fields flower farm and Second Spring Farm. Job description At Tree and Leaf Farm, we are looking for people who are self-motivated and enjoy good hard work, want to better understand the connection between healthy soil and good food, and learn what it takes to get it to market. We require people to work 5 days a week (40-50 hours). Workers will plant, cultivate, harvest, process vegetables and attend farmers' market in all types of weather. We are hiring for one position starting immediately to join our 4-person crew and to work through November, with the potential for winter work and beyond.

Prior farming experience is preferred, but we are open to training someone who is eager to learn and work hard. Be able to lift 50 lbs. and do what it takes to get the job done. Enjoy hot or cold weather and working in the rain or occasional snow. Preference given to those who can come for an on-farm interview.

Starting pay is $9/hour for a 45 - 50 hour work week during the main season, and on-farm housing.  The housing is in a shared farm house with wi-fi, shared kitchen, bathroom and living spaces, and a private bedroom. Compensation this position is : hourly Application instructions
