Fast Growing middle eastern food manufacturer looking for a kitchen manager to direct preparation of foods, sold to high end grocery in greater Boston area. In Cambridge Fresh Pond area, walking distance to Alewife

Duties include:

  • Planning and preparation of premium middle eastern foods to meet retailers sell through.
    • Planning daily and weekly production
      • Ordering ingredients and managing ingredient and packaging inventory
    • Overseeing and participating in preparation and packaging of 8 different products, with emphasis on quality control, consistency, good efficiency and low waste, and no surprises for customers.
      • Managing two assistants and a delivery driver
      • Strict adherence to all applicable food preparation and sanitary regulations, and good food manufacturing practices
      • Insure consistent and accurate records are kept for temperature logs, Critical Control Points, RQAs
      • Solving problems, handle last minute changes, etc
    • Working with the Founder on development and refining of new products, new recipes,
    • Overseeing 3x weekly deliveries to area retailers by Company’s delivery driver and van
    • Coordinating with customers re shelf inventory, levels, product dating and marketing/sampling events.

You will work under direction of the Company founder who will train and develop you, as well as have the benefit of outside managerial resources and training.

Key Qualities and Background

  • At least 3 years in food preparation, including manufacturing for retail sales
    • Working knowledge of food preparation regs and good practices
  • Excellent organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Sound problem solver, positive attitude and solution oriented
  • Experience managing a diverse workforce
  • Self-Starter and a someone looking for a growth opportunity

Initially, this is a 3 day per week position (Mon, Wed and Thurs), but is envisioned to move to 4 or5 day days per week, as the Company grows and other Shared Kitchen Tenants grow and have increased production managerial needs.
