VERMONT FOODBANK – 3SQUARESVT OUTREACH COORDINATOR – BARRE

NON-EXEMPT, FULL TIME

The 3SquaresVT Outreach Coordinator will work to increase participation in the 3SquaresVT program among eligible Vermonters. Under the supervision of the 3SquaresVT Outreach Manager, the 3SVT Coordinator is responsible for planning and conducting outreach events and assemblies, disseminating Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP/3SquaresVT) information, and initiating and completing the program enrollment process. The 3SVT Coordinator is required to work collaboratively with community and organization leaders and social service providers to identify candidates potentially eligible for SNAP/3SVT benefits. The work week may entail some evenings and weekends. Transportation is essential. A valid VT driver’s license is necessary.

General Responsibilities:

• Works cooperatively and has the ability to communicate with staff and volunteers to support the mission of the Foodbank to meet and sustain Foodbank goals;
• Positively contribute to an organizational culture of safe and secure food handling, warehousing and distribution;
• The Foodbank relies on volunteers every day to fulfill our mission. All Foodbank employees must support our culture of philanthropy by treating every volunteer with appreciation and respect;
• Develop in-depth knowledge of SNAP/3SVT policies and procedures and stay up-to-date on the latest developments;
• Become trained in the 3SquaresVT pre-screening, application, and case management process;
• Become trained in using Oasis Insight contact management software; ensure that 3SquaresVT outreach activities are tracked and notifications recorded as needed for program evaluation and reporting to funding agencies;
• Assist individuals with 3SquaresVT applications – work at various partner food shelves and community sites (e.g. libraries, unemployment offices, VA, etc.) to provide education, pre-screening, and online application assistance to low-income individuals/families about 3SquaresVT; follow-up with individuals who have expressed interest in applying for 3SquaresVT;
• This position is mostly funded by grants and is therefore responsible for submitting a minimum of 225 applications annually;
• Receive incoming phone calls and assist individuals in applying for 3SquaresVT —submit applications and all required documentation as requested by Outreach Manager and State of Vermont;
• Provide follow-up assistance, develop relationships with Vermont Department of Human Service offices and community stakeholders who are working to increase access to 3SquaresVT, advocate as necessary between applicants and the State of Vermont;
• Find new locations for SNAP/3SVT outreach by building relationships with partner food pantries, local government offices, social service agencies, and other community sites providing excellent customer service to venues and clients by phone and in person;
• Provide weekly feedback to 3SquaresVT Outreach Manager regarding the quantity of applications, progress toward goals, and client feedback, produce monthly reports on the submitted applications as requested by Outreach Manager;
• Provide education and 3SquaresVT application assistance to clients both in-person, and via phone at various community sites or in personal homes, with a particular focus on underserved populations, e.g., seniors, veterans, immigrants;
• Help the VFB’s 3SquaresVT Outreach Program maintain a statewide presence by serving as a resource to agencies and individuals who call with questions about 3SquaresVT; attend and participate in monthly 3SVT workgroup meetings;
• Maintain 3SquaresVT application records and documents within the guidelines of 3SquaresVT Outreach manager (and legal requirements); and
• Work as part of a cross-functional Community Impact team that is developing and implementing strategies to strengthen communities and address the root causes of hunger.
