Job description

The Market Development Manager is responsible for bringing the Oatly brand to life in the Southeast.  We just launched this amazing brand here in the United States in early 2017 and you would be part of the team of passionate leaders that are focused on making it a huge success.

This job will be based remotely from our NYC office.   We listed the job as being based in Atlanta, but would be open to any candidate based in the Southeast that is a great fit and excited about the opportunity based anywhere from Durham to Nashville to Miami.

You will support a variety of activities including building the business and brand through the local coffee scene and retail partners, working with our sales team to energize our distributors, and creating amazing consumer experiences to drive brand fanaticism.

Here is what the job will look like:

  • Work with the Commercial team in executing the business plan to increase sales within the local market. This will include partnering with channel sales leads through the customer process within the Coffee, Natural Foods/Retail, and other strategic partners.   You will partner with our channel leads on the building of our business from the ground up through these priority growth channels.
  • Local business development will include working with local coffee shops on launching our product, partnering with specialty grocery stores to drive sales, or finding ways to drive key consumer demographics to buy our product in shops, stores, or online.
  • Cultivate the brand in your local market. This will involve hands on training, educating customers and consumers about what makes Oatly great, and building lasting relationships to support brand success.
  • Work with your counterparts in other key markets to share and transfer best practices and processes to make us all better and more successful.   You must be excited about learning from the success of others and sharing your best practices to make the team better.
  • Manage your local development budget to track performance, deliver stellar results on or under budget, and be a fantastic steward of company resources.
  • Display attention to detail in building and following brand processes in our CRM system to deliver great results and pursue continuous improvement.
  • Represent the brand flawlessly in all interactions - commitment to our company values, positive energy, and deep product knowledge.
  • Develop innovative ways for us to build the brand in your market by thinking creatively about potential customers, consumer segments, and key influencers to help us grow.

About our ideal candidate:

  • You have the personality to succeed in this role - friendly, energetic, flexible, humble, hard working, reliable, and trustworthy.
  • You have a Bachelor's Degree and some great professional experience relevant to making you a success in this role.
  • You know the Southeast incredibly well and have a great network of relationships you can tap into.
  • Ideally, you have an existing network in the local coffee, natural foods, or on-premise sales community that you can leverage. Maybe you worked as a manager in a cool local coffee shop and can relate to baristas, or know all the key influencers in the local farmers market or vegan communities.
  • You believe in the company mission and our role in advancing those goals - building a company committed to sustainability, superior nutritional health, and trust. This is really important to you and you have been dreaming of finding a company that aligns this closely with your personal values!
  • You love building relationships and making connections around something you are passionate about. You are a make-it-happen person who is excited to roll up your sleeves and dive in.
  • You are excited about delivering fantastic results - including tracking customer data, building a great process for success, showing how our spending translates into positive outcomes, and being smart about managing budgets and people.
  • You thrive in a job that doesn't include a traditional workplace structure. You are a self starter who doesn’t need direct supervision to motivate you for success.
  • You are ready to make your mark in a smaller, growing brand leveraging your experience to deliver amazing results and build an outstanding company.
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity and are energized by the process of building something lasting from the ground up.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, or disability status.
