Vegetable Garden Farm Manager TCF Garden

Company description TCF Garden is a vegetable garden located one hour east of Atlanta just south of historic Madison, Georgia. TCF Garden was started in the fall of 2015 and has grown to include 1 acre of vegetable production as well as blueberries, blackberries, figs and Asian pears. Expansion for the area under cultivation is possible. The property has an 8 foot tall deer fence, soil suitable for farming, irrigation (well), a high tunnel, greenhouse, shed/wash station and storage area. A full range of equipment, including tiller, compost tea brewer, backpack sprayer, hand tools, refrigerator and irrigation supplies is already on site.  Growing practices have been in line with organic standards with the goal  of becoming certified. Past customers include Farmview Market in Madison as well as several restaurants in Atlanta, with the possibility for further expansion into the Atlanta market. The owners take pride in the farm and are  offering a supportive environment for a young farmer who possesses the love for vegetable farming, is a hard working and looking for a long term career. Job description TCF Garden is looking for an entrepreneurial farmer (or couple) that is able to commit to full-time management of garden and growth of business. The farmer must be self-motivated to carry out all aspects of crop production from ordering seeds to harvesting/processing crops to delivering produce to restaurants. The farmer would need to be able to keep very precise growing and financial records, have responsibility for scheduling of planting plants, plant selection, pest management, fertilization, prepare and deliver on scheduled days to Atlanta, maintain a presence online and continue marketing and finding new outlets for produce. The farm should be very well-maintained (weed management is essential) and aesthetically pleasing, as well as productive. This is an excellent opportunity for a farmer who has ambition and skills to operate his/her own farm, but doesn't have the necessary resources. This opportunity is ideal for the farmer who has apprenticed on farms and who is now ready to have significant input into the direction of a vegtable farm for the independent step forward into their 2018 career and beyond.

Interested applicants should possess the following qualifications:
*At least 3 years of growing and marketing experience of vegetable, fruit tree and berry production in the south
*crop planning and rotation
*compost, soil and organic pest management
*use and maintenance of all types of farm equipment and tools
*greenhouse and drip irrigation systems
*an outgoing personality and ability to work with others
*business development, planning and problem solving skills that allow the farm to be economically self-sustaining
*articulate; a people-person who can build and foster relationships with customers and chefs
*self-starter, creative, resourceful, detail-oriented, very neat
*maintain social media presence
*familiarity with selling to wholesale restaurants accounts and at weekly farmers market
*ambition to build a business and pursue a long term farming career

COMPENSATION:
