Company description Big Branch Valley Farm is a small family farm committed to living in harmony with our surroundings. We grow a diverse array of certified organic vegetables for market, wholesale, and our CSA program. We are presently farming about 10 acres, while harvesting from 3-4 in a given season. Internship description Big Branch Valley Farm apprentices will experience the full spectrum of farm living. Apprentices will be provided with rustic accommodations, unlimited access to farm products, plus a monthly stipend. In exchange we will ask for 5 days of work per week. Our farm is small and our team is intimate which means that apprentices will have the opportunity to learn about all aspects of our operation. The majority of the work, however, will focus on greenhouse work, seeding, planting, plant care, cultivation, harvesting, and markets. We emphasize hands on learning and encourage apprentices to ask questions throughout the day. We also have farm crew lunches everyday, during which we breakdown some of the nitty gritty details of the day. This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking for experience not only with farm work, but also with the challenges and rewards of living and working in a family oriented homestead.
