Apprentices will get to enjoy a diverse experience of farming, customer service, music festival promotion, business, carpentry, and more! We value team playing and work ethic above experience, as we are working and hanging out together all day 6 days/week, so its good to have a positive attitude!  Internship description Come enjoy a diverse apprentice experience on an organic fruit farm and at a summer music festival! We grow 5 acres of organic apples and other fruits, and our farm has a gift & food store, lunch cafe, and hosts school tours and weddings. We also (separately) are in charge of a large summer roots music festival and music camp in July, and apprentices with the farm will get to enjoy both experiences. This season we are also offering a carpentry focus, as we are building an addition with indoor seating & restrooms on our farm store. The apprenticeship runs May 1st-Thanksgiving, or June 15th-December 15th, six days/week. The experience is divided into sections, with a heavier focus on farming & weddings in the summer, and a heavier focus on business and customer service (working in the farm store and at the farm stand) in the fall. The entire month of July will be focused on preparing for and running the music festival and string camp, which is quite fun and large, and apprentices are usually in charge of the beer tent! Compensation includes $200/week, an apartment with a bathroom and a kitchen, a weekly CSA veggie share from our friends, and opportunity to attend Maine Organic Farmers Association workshops. Apprentices also work on a small independent project which they present at the end of the term. This year we are very interested in apprentices with familiarity or confidence with carpentry, but that is not a requirement. You must be able to lift 50lbs and be comfortable with monotonous tasks, and taking initiative without constant supervision. To apply send a short email to Molly Griffin McKenna describing yourself, your upbringing, your relevant experience and why you are interested in a farm & music festival apprenticeship.  Compensation this position is : stipend / non-monetary compensation
