ABOUT
Our farm was started in 1972, Licking Creek Bend Farm, a 60 acre vegetable, fruit and Christmas tree farm. Tucked away in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Needmore, PA
The farm is a Certified Naturally Grown garm with five full-time employees. Our philosophy is that a sustainable food systems starts with local farmers, who know their customers. We maintain a 120-member CSA program. Our produce is sold to two Washington, DC area food fo-ops, at five farmer's markets, and to two local universities.
APPRENTICESHIP DETAILS
Expect to Learn -
All the basics of starting and running a farm including: starting seeds, greenhouse production, planting, fertilization, drip irrigation, high tunnel growing and cultivation. Our staff run several farm markets and we offer a 120-family Community-Supported Agriculture program. Each staff person take turns working at our farm markets and preparing the CSA shares. The farm has supported a policy of growing food sustainably and pricing it affordably in mixed-income neighborhoods since 1972.
Currently we are a staff of 5. Our farm is worker-run so the applicants will be interviewed and hired by the staff. This staff has worked on the farm for 3 to 5 seasons. We offer the option of becoming a salaried employee for the following season.
Apprenticeship dates: April 1 - November 30
We prefer individuals with some farm experience.

$5,000 plus room and board
