Company description After opening in May 2017, Wild Roots Restaurant has become one of the most cutting edge restaurants in New England. Our mission is 100% local sourcing and we are currently working with over 40 farms within a 30 mi radius.

Wild Roots is located right off I-89 in Royalton, Vermont and attracts high volumes of both local clientele and travelers in the Northeast. Set in a newly redesigned historic space, Wild Roots also features deck seating overlooking the White River - a prime summer attraction.

The restaurant's seating capacity is approximately 60 in the winter and an additional 23 deck seats in the summer. Plans include additional outdoor lawn-style seating. Job description THE OPPORTUNITY

We are currently in search of a talented, passionate and experienced Executive Chef to lead the kitchen at Wild Roots.

THE ROLE

The Executive Chef will report to the owners of Wild Roots and be responsible for leading the culinary operation of the restaurant. The ideal candidate is passionate about utilizing top quality local product from our extensive list of artisans & vendors. The Chef must have the ability to create vegetarian, gluten-free and vegan options and to accommodate varied guest preferences. 

The Chef will be responsible for developing a comprehensive food plan for a dynamic menu that reflects the local offerings. Ability to understand financials (P&L, Food and Labor cost) and make cost effective decisions is essential.

The candidate must have experience overseeing BOH staff members and proven track record in building a strong staff. Ability to work as a team and to collaborate with executive management and staff is essential. 


QUALIFICATIONS

*Ability to perform all chef-related duties.
*Ability to design a unique, innovative and seasonal menu
*Ability to manage both food and labor costs.
*Excellent communication skills.
*Excellent plating and knife skills.  
*Ability to manage all kitchen personnel, including scheduling, handling interpersonal issues that may arise and working with executive management team regarding staff adherence to restaurant rules.
