We cultivate a wide variety of gourmet mushroom species and produce mushroom spawn for home growers, small farms, and other commercial mushroom farms. Job description North Spore Mushroom Company, based in Portland, Maine, is seeking a new full-time employee for their urban mushroom farm. 
North Spore was founded in 2014 by three friends and graduates of The College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine. We cultivate a variety of mushroom species, including Oyster Mushrooms, Shiitake, Lions Mane, and Chestnut Mushrooms. North Spore also produces mushroom spawn for home growers, small farms, and other mushroom producers, participates in a multitude of local farmer’s markets, and works directly with Portland area restaurants and specialty shops.

The mushroom grower position is responsible for all of North Spore's fresh mushroom production. This position requires good attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to spend long hours doing repetitive tasks. Preference will be given to those with a proven track record in farming or similar manual labor positions. 

The position’s responsibilities will include:

• processing and inoculating raw substrates in order to produce a wide variety of gourmet mushrooms
• harvesting mushrooms
• overseeing the function and environment of our multiple fruiting rooms
