Farmers and seaweed harvesters seeking chef for the 2019 season in Downeast Maine!
We are seeking to hire/partner a chef who is passionate about regional food sovereignty, and is motivated to come live or to work seasonally in our rural, beautiful coastal DownEast Maine to work processing organic foods, both wild and domestic. Our products are certified MOFGA organic. Specifically: blueberry and fruit jam, seaweed condiment and pate, tomato/ other vegetable salsas and sauces, dried herbs and teas, vinegar.
We are able to collaborate with a local state inspected/ certified ‘ fish kitchen’ that has most of the equipment that we would need, and is interested to get more grants for freezers, steam kettles etc. We can help you find housing and learn the area, and have significant marketing research and channels already established.
We are looking for someone with great chef skills, adept at project/ process management, disciplined with food safety and paperwork, motivated to do marketing work, excited to partner with farmers and to come do a seasonal work collaboration in a very beautiful, beautiful rural area. This might also include developing more relationships, products, markets and processing projects for other farmers in the area..
