Job Description

We are looking for a highly organized, people-oriented self-starter to join our team and provide structure to our expanding organization. The Office Manager will be immersed in a vibrant, cross-cultural office and will be responsible for a variety of crucial tasks. This person will be involved in all SBCA programs, but will focus a significant amount of their time with Liberation Farms.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

Duties will include a combination of administrative and human resource tasks. This position plays a supportive role to both the Executive Director and the Bookkeeper. Position responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Administrative Duties: Set up office filing system and maintain general office records - Answer telephone calls and general email inquiries - Monitor and order office supplies - Open, sort, sign for, send and/or distribute US Mail, UPS and FedEx - Schedule meetings, keep office calendar and reminders - Maintain and submit documentation for various grant applications and reporting. Assist the organization’s Executive Director as needed.

Human Resources: Maintain employee personnel files - Responsible for interviewing  employee, volunteer, and intern candidates- Develop employee policies as necessary - Mediate interpersonal disputes and grievances - Oversee employee benefits - Maintain up to date and clearly defined job descriptions

Bookkeeping/Accounting: Support the bookkeeper/accountant with maintaining day-to-day functions.
 

Qualifications

  • 2+ consecutive years of experience in a professional office setting with references to verify
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs
  • Extremely organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing in English
  • Self-starter with the ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot  independently
  • Able to create intuitive and efficient systems to optimize office operations
  • Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills and the ability to prioritize
  • Experience working in a cross-cultural environment
  • Accounting, and/or HR experience a plus
  • Quickbooks and bookkeeping experience a plus
  • Knowledge of Wordpress and Constant Contact a plus
  • Ability to speak Somali or Maay Maay a plus



Job Type

Part time to start with the opportunity for full time as dictated by performance and future grant funding. This position is based at the Somali Bantu Community Association office at 145 Pierce St. in Lewiston.

 

Salary

$16-$18/hour depending on experience
