Job description Position: Nursery Kitchen Manager Pay Bracket: $12/hr - $13.50/hr

Employment Type: Part time. | M-F, 9:30-2:30pm. Plus an additional 2 hours each week for management tasks and and additional 1 1/2 hours every other week for bi-monthly staff meetings.

About the Position

We have an organic vegetarian menu at school; as Kitchen Manager at our Nursery program you will be responsible for preparing am snack, lunch, and pm snack 5 days a week for 3-4 staff members and 10 students. You will also file menu claims with the USDA each day, keep up with the USDA standards, maintain sanitation requirements, grocery shop within our budget (both weekly and bulk), manage our birthday celebrations and collaborate for meals at our Fundraising Events.

 

Our Kitchen Manager is also a teacher's assistant throughout the day. Responsibilities for this position include: providing a healthy, nurturing, creative and respectful environment for each child; following our daily rhythm; serving the students our AM snack and Lunch, and being available to assist with students during AM snack and after Nap time, as this is when teachers take their breaks. We also ask that you foster healthy communication with parents and other teachers through daily interactions.

 

As you are able, we ask that you help us maintain our small vegetable garden in the front of the house and our native garden & herb garden in our outdoor classroom. This is a small role for now, with room for growth in the future as funding and expansion becomes available.

  
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in a Waldorf early childhood environment is highly sought after!
