  • Job type Full-Time
Company description Specialty Foods Boston's mission is to put the best ingredients available into the hands of Boston's best chefs.  We are very picky about both quality and who we choose to work with.  Over the past twenty-five years, we have developed close-knit relationships with farmers, growers and producers that allow us to cherry-pick the best available produce and put it into the hands of chefs who know how to make the most of it.  Our clients include almost all of Boston Magazine's "Top 100 restaurants," and every single James Beard award winner in Greater Boston. Job description
Specialty Foods Boston is hiring for an open position starting immediately. We are a produce/game/fish/dry goods company, providing concierge-style service to around a hundred of the best chefs in town.  We are hiring for an operations manager.

The job includes:

Operations & Logistics: assist in planning and execution of our daily deliveries throughout greater Boston, starting at 5:30 am.  Work with the warehouse team to help pick runs, with a special focus on quality control, speed, accuracy and knowledge of all produce items in warehouse.

Customer Service & Product Sourcing:  You will be handling client requests, sourcing product, and obtaining products- sometimes personally and on the fly.  You need to be able to solve problems, think on your feet, get creative, and make our clients feel heard.

Inventory & Purchasing: responsible for daily inventory and organization in our dairy, charcuterie and dry goods departments, as well as assisting the buyers with purchasing.

You should be: a chef, sous chef, general or assistant restaurant manager, or someone outside the restaurant world with deep food & restaurant knowledge.  Able to switch between paperwork and physical work with ease, have very strong attention to detail, and be someone who excels at being organized and efficient.  You must have a strong track record of reliability.

You can expect:  to work hard, get dirty, and do some heavy lifting.  To enjoy a regular, set schedule including two days off per week, to work from 5:30 in the morning until 3 in the afternoon, to receive health and 401K benefits, and to join a growing company with room to move up in both pay and position. And to work with some really cool products!  Positions here are rare and coveted.  It is an excellent opportunity for someone with a hospitality background who wants to continue working with food to learn a fascinating side of the business.
