Job description

Lemons & Olives is seeking an experienced and energetic Chef de Cuisine with passion for food, creativity and a strong work ethic to join our growing team. This is a key role in a fast-paced start-up feeling environment, overseeing the production of high-quality food for events large and small.  


This is an ideal opportunity for someone who currently works as a sous chef and is ready to take the next step up to a true leadership role.   
 

 REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong culinary experience, including in the catering field
  • Experience with a variety of cuisines and cooking styles
  • Experience with farm-to-table or sustainable dining a plus
  • Have experience producing large volume of hors d’oeuvres
  • Knowledge of off-site catering events
  • Detail-oriented, self-starter with strong managerial skills and capability to lead
  • Strong written and spoken English language skills. Spanish language a big plus
  • Knowledge of New York food safety laws. DOH Certificate a must.
  • Flexibility with early morning, weekend shifts

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work directly with the executive chef/owner in all areas of food creativity and kitchen management
  • Serve as the primary prep chef for all events
  • Create daily and seasonal menus, including new menu items
  • Organize, pack and dispatch parties daily
  • Scheduling of all kitchen staff
  • Training new and existing staff
  • Purchasing
  • Inventory
  • Expediting
  • In charge of DOH compliance and maintaining an “A” grade
