29b is a modern teahouse located in the LES/Alphabet City/East Village. Opened in Oct 2017, owned by a longtime purveyor of high-end tea importer Tea Dealers. Closer in style to a Tokyo tea bar than a cafe or restaurant, we offer teas from Japan, Korea, Taiwan, China and India, tea cocktails, selection of craft beers, sake, and biodynamic wine. We serve high quality sashimi and warm food to enjoy with tea.
Tea Specialists are the representative of our tea producers to the world. You do not need to have experience with tea! As a tea server you are responsible for educating and serving tea, alcoholic beverages, and light snacks while guiding guests through the 29B Teahouse experience. Tea specialists are expected to give service that is knowledgeable, approachable, efficient, and energetic while upholding company standards in a relaxed, yet fast paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and guide guest’s complete tea and dining experience
- Provide knowledgeable, approachable, efficient, energetic, service at all times
- Full knowledge of food and beverage menu items including the major components of a dish/drink; this may include ingredients and their source, simple descriptions of unfamiliar ingredients, preparation, and/or execution of correct food and beverage service
- Adhere to all company service standards and protocols
- Uphold standards of quality when assembling food and beverages
- Responsibly serve alcoholic beverages
- Support team with beverage service to all dining room areas
- Ensure food and beverage arrive to guests quickly and correctly; and confirming guest satisfaction
- Maintain the cleanliness of store
- Stocking tea and preparing service related items
- Adhere to grooming and dress code standards
Skills & Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of service industry experience in a high volume environment
- Food safety certificate (or to be obtained within the first month of hire)
- Strong beverage (coffee, wine, beer, cocktails) knowledge and a passion for the service industry. We will teach you about tea!
- Receptive to constructive criticism and performance feedback
- Ability to demonstrate quick thinking and adaptability in a constantly changing environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must possess exceptional work ethic, leadership, strong attention to detail, and a collaborative attitude
