We are a small business with a team comprised of two full time+ owners and two part-time employees. Our business is growing, and we are looking for a someone to join our team and become a part of our little cheese-shop family. Job Description We are currently seeking to fill a part-time position with the possibility of full-time in the future. The main focus of the position is working the cheese counter and assisting customers with their purchases. Our shop is usually staffed with one or two employees, so at St. Kilian’s the job of cheese-monger is all encompassing. The owners and new employees work side by side, and we are looking for someone with a passion for food, who enjoys working with people and wants to contribute to our business.
This is a starting level position, and we don’t have any firm requirements concerning prior cheese knowledge besides the enjoyment of eating it, more important to our needs is a self-motivated individual, who wants to learn and contribute to our little part of the food world. Helpful experience to be ready for a job in this environment could include: retail, customer service, social media management, passion for cooking or other culinary experience.
Good availability including weekends and holidays is a must as these are our busiest times in retail.
Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
We are looking for a self-motivated individual, who can start by assisting us in helping customers at our store daily, and can grow into a more involved position including opening/closing the store and working special events outside of the shop.
Specialty food experience is preferred but not required. Excellent customer service skills are essential. Applicants should be self- motivated and detail oriented. Weekend, evening and holiday availability required.
- Assisting customers with purchases
- Slicing and packaging cheese and charcuterie
- Cashiering and record keeping
- Workplace maintenance (cleaning, stocking, organization)
- Opening and closing duties
- Preparing orders and catering
- Outside events (tastings, markets, etc.)
- Social media posting
- Product selection, inventory management and in-store signage creation
