We opened Hen of the Wood - Waterbury in October 2005.  Hen of the Wood was focused on a few key themes; a community that we could represent authentically, a historic & visually appealing setting, seamless service, simple technique-driven regional food and a group of professionals that would become our family.

We imagined a professional, yet casual staff.  Food cooked from as close to the source as possible.  This would be the beginning of a commitment to the amazing farmers, cheese makers, and producers who make Vermont so special!   A personal commitment to enrich the lives of ourselves and our staff by treating each other like family.  This family of choice is our most important resource.

Our goal is to provide a truly Vermont experience at all of our restaurants.  We want to showcase the region’s most vibrant products and continue to build strong connections with our community, our staff and fellows in our profession.  We are in the business of human connection!  This is artfully disguised as superior food & drink and extraordinary customer service.
 

We are passionate about building community through our involvement and active participation in the business of food, drink and service.

We believe that the best-tasting food is grown locally and harvested in ways that are ecologically sound.  The quest for such ingredients always determined the restaurants' menus.  
 

Running a restaurant is never a singular effort.  We have established a network of growers, artisans, designers, ranchers, bakers, wild crafters, and many more who are striving for both environmental harmony and continued growth.

Job description Full immersion! Our Waterbury spot is only 40 seats, open 5 days a week, 5PM-9PM. It is super livable while being in control of Vermont's most awarded restaurant. We love natural wine, local food and our team! Further growth is up to you as we now have a few restaurants and can provide many learning opportunities about how our systems work.  Compensation this position is : salaried Application instructions
