Now Hiring: In-Store Trainer

The in-store trainer is expected to be a leader to the baristas in upholding the quality control standards established by Irving Farm's Coffee Team. In addition, this role will include overseeing the onboarding of new baristas and preparing them for bar certification, as well as continuing to develop their skill-set on bar. Working with the management team, the in-store trainer assists in the training of team members on cafe operations, coffee knowledge, brewing, equipment cleaning and proper handling of equipment.

The ideal candidate for this position is someone who has demonstrated proficiency as a barista within the Specialty Coffee industry. They must be responsible, punctual, self-motivated, and have respect for their role, and work well with others. They should be able to relate to people of all backgrounds and abilities, and have a prominent interest and passion for coffee.

 

Prerequisites:

-Candidates must have open availability and a willingness to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends, as needed.

-At least two years experience as a barista in a high volume, specialty coffee environment. Internal candidates with experience from Irving Farm given first preference.

-Outstanding customer service skills and the ability to deliver a hospitable experience to our trainees and guests.

-Completed Irving Farm Bar Certification Level 1 preferred.

-Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing, including receiving and delivering positive and constructive feedback.

-A demonstrated capacity for training and educating others. -Excellent interpersonal and mentorship skills.

-Preference will be given to those NYS Food Handler's license; obtaining a license within 30 days of hire will be a requirement of the position

-Preference will be given to those with a demonstrated passion and understanding of coffee knowledge and service, including advanced coffee theory and extraction principles, taste and palate development, milk and latte art, competition experience, etc.

-Complete Intermediate and Advanced coffee education curriculum, upon roll-out

-This position reports directly to the store manager with training supervision and facilitation by the Retail Coffee Educator.

-The position will be reviewed every 90 days for the first year.
