Canewater Farm is in it's sixth year in production as a Certified Organic Farm. We farm 13 acres of vegetables year round. We have 10 employees (some full time and some part time). We also maintain 25+ acres in woodlands and pasture along pristine marsh on the Georgia coast. We also help manage our family farm in Ellijay, GA where we raise Ossabaw hogs and run a gristmill for grits/cornmeal.  We sell to 50 restaurants/retailers a week and attend 1-2 farmers markets a week. We also work with distributors across the Southeast. 

Canewater Farm Field Crew Job Description

 
This is a full time or part time position starting ASAP. Pay is hourly and dependent on experience. 

Canewater Farm is looking for a hard working, and energetic person to join our staff field crew position. This job wears many different hats and the right candidate must be flexible and willing to work year round in extreme conditions including heat, humidity, cold, and bugs.

The job requires 40-50 hours a week (expect an average of 45 hours), 5 days a week.  Farm experience not required.  The main responsibilities include…

 -Harvest/Wash/Pack

- Seeding, Transplanting, Cultivation, Irrigation

- Farmers Markets

- Deliveries

- Tractor Work

We work hard, play hard and expect the same from our crew. We allow non paid vacation days with advance notice.

 
PROPERTY WORK

The front 25 acres of Canewater Farm is a beautiful pasture/hardwood mixture that sits at the edge of the marsh. We take great pride in its appearance and allocate time and resources for its upkeep. During the year, there is time committed to its maintenance. This will include weed wacking fence lines and trees, bush hogging, chainsaw work, machete work, tree pruning, burning, and all around property maintenance.

LOCATION

We are located in a beautiful part of the Georgia coast, between Savannah and Brunswick. You will find remote islands, lots of sea life and an opportunity to swim in the river after work, access to sea kayaking, sailing, and fishing/shrimping.

We are located about an hour south of Savannah and 30 minutes north of Brunswick/St. Simons area, and an hour north of Jacksonville, FL. Savannah is a great coastal city full of history and a growing food scene. St. Simons offers beaches and nice restaurants in a resort style setting. There are basic services in Darien, which is 5 miles away from the farm.
