Company description The Chattahoochee Nature Center is an environmental education facility that focuses on the interpretation of flora and fauna of, and human interaction with, the Chattahoochee River.  Our facility and grounds host over 140,000 guests annually.  Our mission is to "connect people to nature". Job description The Horticulture Department seeks a candidate to work in our gardens and grounds, our nursery and greenhouse facilities and to interact with schools in the area to promote our Farm to Cafeteria Garden Growing Program.  This candidate will work in our native plant gardens, propagate and carry out routine garden tasks such as compost management, crop rotation and pest and disease management.  Candidate also should have excellent verbal and written skills and will work with school personnel and students to carry out the Farm to Cafeteria Garden Growing Program.  Additional skills should include the ability to operate machinery essential to the job, perform routine greenhouse management.  Candidate should work well individually and as part of a team.  This job requires periodic weekend and holiday work as well as work at major events of the CNC.  Candidate will be required to drive a company vehicle to schools and other locations. Additional tasks to be determined by Horticulture Manager. 

This job is physically demanding and requires lifting items over 50 pounds. Additionally, this job requires work in all seasons and in all weather conditions.

We require a minimum of a high school diploma and 2 years of work in horticulture.  Bachelors degree in horticulture is preferred.  Candidate must possess or obtain a Pesticide Applicators License, Category 24.
