Job description

Farmers Market Manager/Host

Part-time, $17/hour position available at our Outdoor Winter Ossining Farmers Market on Saturdays located in Market Square, Ossining. Floater/Fill-in positions also available with flexible schedule -make your own hours.

We are looking for enthusiastic people with great people skills to manage one or more seasonal farmers markets and assist with market promotion within the community.

The Farmers Market Manager oversees and supervises daily operations of a farmers market to assure a smooth and safe running market; set up and break down the market manager tent and market signage, sell farmers market goods, serve as a market host, welcome and engage shoppers; and promote good relations between vendors, our company, and the shoppers. The Farmers Market Manager cultivates dialogue between shoppers and Down to Earth Markets, helping to ensure that the market meets the needs of the shoppers and their communities.

Requirements:

-must be punctual
-must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs
-must have access to a computer for emailing, submitting and receiving reports
-must be available for the entire season (Saturdays 7:30am-2pm December through April)
-an interest in and be able to articulately communicate about local food and sustainable agriculture - a plus!
