Saveur is seeking an experienced Digital Editor to help oversee, plan, and guide content across our digital platforms. Working on close conjunction with our Executive Editor, the ideal candidate will be intimately familiar with Saveur’s voice, place in the industry, and methods of storytelling, but able to evolve them and bring out their best. Proven editorial experience, SEO mastery, extreme organization, and an eye for unique cultural stories and videos are a must. An obsession with aesthetic is highly preferred. 

Saveur covers a wide range of international cuisines and travel stories. But it should be noted that this is not a traveling job to begin. For the right candidates, opportunities exist to eventually shoot video or report stories for Saveur.com. Proven performance and mastery of tasks may ideally lead to travel writing and/or video opportunities down the road.

Duties:

- Work closely with Saveur’s Executive Editor to plan yearly editorial calendar and create an overarching visual for Saveur’s digital presence 

- Fine-tune and maintain voice of Saveur brands across platforms 

- Closely monitor and analyze metrics and performance across Saveur.com, editorial and branded newsletters, and social media

- Work closely with edit team to plan and contribute content for Saveur newsletters

- Communicate with content production team to build pages Saveur.com and perform site maintenance as necessary

- Plan and allocate editorial budget for Saveur.com stories and photographs 

- Participate in SEO strategy meetings, then identify and create a plan to address holes

- Receive pitches from and contract assignments to Saveur.com contributors 

- Build out print-to-web stories and scheduling for each issue of Saveur, including planning web extras and optimizing stories as needed 

- Help update recipe and product roundups weekly 

- Ensure posting of at least one piece of original reported content daily

- Edit contributed travel and food pieces 

- Pitch and conceptualize video content, from short social media videos to longform video reporting 

- Edit videos (or oversee editing) as needed for branded and editorial content 

- Plan editorial content for each month (including reported pieces, roundups, recipes, product spotlights, cookbook posts, etc)

- Strategize video content across platforms

- Pitch and assign video ideas

- Work on sponsored and branded content, pitching and implementing ideas with brands and the Saveur marketing and sales teams. This involves hiring and directing photographers, videographers, and freelancers as necessary 

- Update social media and plan social scheduling as needed 

- Help conceptualize social media campaigns

- Coordinate (and occasionally shoot, if possible) digital and social recaps for Saveur Suppers and other events 

Requirements:

-Multiple years in a mid- to senior-level digital role

-Proven experience editing reported articles with writers 

-Deep familiarity with (and love for) the Saveur perspective and food and travel writing and editing in general

-Superb taste in social media (visuals and voice)

-Positive attitude and desire to foster growth among staff and contributors 

-Proven database of writers and photographers a huge plus 

-Knowledge of video 

-Ability to shoot and/or edit video a huge plus
