Internship description Start: beginning of March - early November.

Our interns will learn the ins and outs of CSA, cut flowers and floral design, farmer's market, restaurant sales, all organic practices, composting, marketing and more.

Couples are encouraged to apply. Pets will be considered on a case by case basis.

We are located an hour, including ferry ride, from downtown Seattle.  It's an idyllic setting within walking distance of a sandy swimming beach, miles of wooded trails, and abundant wildlife. Lovely small town atmosphere in cool, lush Western WA.

Agricultural experience is not required. One's own vehicle is.

Important qualities here include: a positive attitude, willingness to work and try hard, good verbal communication skills and physical health, flexibility, and a love of healthy cooking and eating. We offer lots of hands-on instruction and responsibility in all aspects of the farm's operation from field work to bookkeeping, accounting, social media communications and beyond.

Live in a cozy, wood-heated yurt on our beautiful, quiet 13 acres. Dwellings are electrified, furnished, and have (somewhat sketchy) wireless Internet access. There is a communal kitchen, shared bathroom and laundry. We've offered our apprenticeship for over 20 years and have developed a well-rounded, respected, and, in many cases life-changing opportunity for those who come to work alongside us.

We are part of a richly textured local community with an abundance of skills to share. Past offerings have included bread and cheese making, fermentation, bee keeping, fiber arts, wildcrafting, herbal medicine making, canning, crabbing and shellfish harvesting, wedding flower design, and more. These would be self-initiated learning projects which we would help you set up.

Apprentices will also participate in "Farm School", joining together with interns from neighboring farms to delve into a diverse curriculum covering a broad range of topics. These classes will take place throughout a three county region, and, when completed, will qualify you for continuing education credits from WSU. Apprentices also have the opportunity to tend their own small garden plot throughout the season.

We particularly encourage those interested in starting their own sustainable small farms to apply. Many former apprentices are now successful growers, building on our creative model of niche marketing and the authenticity of our growing practices. We strongly believe that each year's group of interns is our most important crop, as they take their season of learning with us out into the world to affect positive change.

Stipend is approximately $750/month including profit sharing. Farm fresh veggies are provided as well as housing and utilities. Couples are encouraged to apply. If we are a good fit, a multi-season managerial position is an option.  Compensation this position is : stipend / non-monetary compensation
