Whole Farm Apprentice -
WF apprentices gain hands-on experience working with both our vegetable operations and our diversified livestock operation (dairy cows, beef, pork and chickens.) WF apprentices gain exposure to our on-farm compost and small grains production as well as biodynamic agricultural practices.
Apprentices also participate in regional farm visits and supplemental classroom sessions to compliment the hands-on skills training they receive on the farm.
Primary skills gained:
- All aspects of vegetable production on 14 acres for 300 member CSA and 90 member Winter CSA, weekly NYC farmer's markets, on-site farm store and other wholesale accounts.
- Tractor operation
- Milking and dairy herd management
- Rotational grazing, fencing and pasture management
- Beef, pork and chicken production.
Compensation:
Apprentices receive a stipend of approximately $900/month (subject to taxes), on-farm housing and access to an abundance of farm food - veggies, dairy, bread and baked goods and meat.
Positions start mid-February and run through Thanksgiving. Options for winter work and advanced apprenticeships in following season are available.
